MEGA MAN Meets The WIRE

Recently, I just finished watching THE WIRE in its entirety and I must say it really is the best dramatic series in the past 20 years (so says Vulture as well). Now that I've finished watching that work of art, I can say that the MEGA MAN parody cartoon very accurately portrays the show's modern Charles Dickian tone.

Doesn't everyone remember HEY ARNOLD!, the unusually serious cartoon starring a character with a football-shaped head and tiny tiny hat? What about DOUG, the very average teen who had a very awesome dog named Porkchop?

Well the gang at Dr. Coolsex Comedy do and decided to create two spoof trailers for these nostalgic gems. Check them out and check out their page for more hilarious videos.

Mr. SHOW Commercials

MR. SHOW with Bob and David was an absurdist HBO sketch comedy more akin to Monty Python's Flying Circus. With the free reign available on cable television the show was able to go farther with their bits than a show like SNL ever could. It was also the launching pad for Tom Kenny, otherwise known as SpongeBob SquarePants.

One of their specialties was parody commercials, please check a few out:

This one is about two competing grocery stores, one is a homegrown success story steeped in tradition and the other is a fancy new corporate chain. See how a few sentences can destroy years of reputation.  

Don Draper or Sergio?

 

The very handsome Jon Hamm is coming back to the small screen tomorrow with MAD MEN returns for its 5th season. I figured, this is a good enough time as any to post my favourite SNL Digital Short which so happens to include Mr. Hamm himself.

Who's sexier: Don Draper or Sergio? That is harder than Sophie's Choice.

Like I said before, MAD MEN is returning to its rightful place on our TVs on March 25th and please do yourself a favour and check out the season 5 promo trailers if you haven't already. 

While we're waiting for that day a new MAD MEN-related phenomenon has taken over the internet. No it isn't AMC's Mad Men Yourself avatar creator, although that is kind of neat, but it is the new trend of: #Draping.

#Draping is apparently the art of sitting down and placing your right arm up on the chair, mimicking the MAD MEN silhouette in the logo. 


Although it isn't as funny as #Angiesrightleg, it still is popular enough to have its own blog.

Everybody Hates Worf

"Captain, I think we should all get pilgrim hats"

I didn't exactly know what I was in for when I read the title of this youtube clip, but once I started the clip, I nearly fell out of my chair. I can't believe the authors of this were able to string along 15 minutes of footage to make this video!

For anyone unsure of what the heck is going on, this is footage from Star Trek: The Next Generation and Worf is the Enterprise's "Chief of Security Tactical Officer." He's supposed to be one of the highest ranked Klingons in Star Fleet and a real bad ass but as you can see, he gets crapped on again and again.

Totally ARCHER!

Apparently the writers behind ARCHER sneak in the word "totally" in about every episode just like how a ninja sneaks into a room to whip a well-placed throwing star into your favourite black turtleneck. (Totally nailed it in making the headline picture relevant!)

Get In the CAGE

"Good evening Nic. You are looking very well tonight" - Nic Cage

SNL has been doing a recurring sketch called "Get in the Cage!" where a celebrity guest and Andy Samberg posing as Nicolas Cage would discuss various topics. He's already done this with Jake Gyllenhaal, Bradley Cooper, and Jude Law. 


On this episode, Nic Cage himself showed up and the results were glorious.

30 ROCK - MLK Day

Somewhere between black and white...is love...and stuff

30 Rock made a hilarious trailer for their movie spoof MLK Day starring Emma Stone and Andy Samberg, alongside a whole slew of other "movie stars."

This of course is making fun of the all-star cast boasting but terribly written Valentine's Day and New Year's Eve.

Zach & Donald's "Baby It's Cold Outside"

J.D. and Turk (Zach Braff and Donald Faison, respectively) played best friends on the medical comedy Scrubs where they brought bromance into the home of millions every week. Even though the show is now done, Zach and Donald continue to be best friends off camera and for this holiday season, they gave us the gift of a bro-on-bro version of "Baby It's Cold Outside."
